Arjumand Syed

Arjumand Syed is an attorney at TMBTQ with over seven years of experience in intellectual property law, specializing in both litigation and transactional matters. She holds a Master of Laws in Intellectual Property from The George Washington University Law School, graduating magna cum laude. Licensed to practice in India since 2016 and currently pending U.S. licensing, Arjumand is dedicated to supporting both established family businesses by safeguarding their intellectual property rights both domestically and internationally, as well as guiding creators and new entrepreneurs to set themselves up for success and protection.

 

As a musician, Arjumand brings a personal passion to her work in IP law. At TMBTQ, she expertly handles a variety of complex IP issues, including copyright disputes, technology licensing agreements, SaaS agreements, trademark clearance, and cease and desist notices, disputes before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. Her extensive experience in litigating trademark infringement suits and working on IP licensing agreements in India, coupled with her current work in the U.S. provide her clients with a valuable cross-jurisdictional perspective, ideal for businesses looking to expand or protect their legacy globally.

 

Before joining TMBTQ, Arjumand founded and managed a law firm in Bangalore, India, where she led the firm’s corporate practice, focusing on IP portfolio management for both domestic and international clients. Her entrepreneurial spirit was further showcased at The George Washington University Law School, where she founded the Music Law Association (MuLAn), transforming it into one of the largest and most dynamic student organizations. Her leadership in launching a biweekly Music Law Newsletter and organizing high-impact events on emerging music law trends, career panels and networking opportunities demonstrates her commitment to educating and empowering the next generation. After having graduated from GW Law, she continues to support MuLAn as its Alumni Advisor.  Arjumand also contributed to the Music Copyright Infringement Resource (MCIR) as an Author, while working as Research Assistant to Professor Robert Brauneis, a top expert in U.S. copyright law. This experience has bolstered her expertise in music law and U.S. copyright protections.
